MEC for Public Works and Infrastructure, Motshidise Koloi, delivered the Department’s Budget Vote on 07 April 2022, at the Fourth Raadsaal, Bloemfontein.

In her speech MEC Koloi mentioned that revenue enhancement continues to gain momentum and that its fruits will be visible throughout the 2022-23 financial year.

Already showing fruits of success are the appointments of 116 new staff members of which 53 are female. These appointments consist of registered professionals within the Construction, Project Management, Structural Engineering and Quantity Surveying as well as other artisan related disciplines. Furthermore, through its Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP), the Department in collaboration with the National Youth Service and the National Youth Development Agency developed 315 young people.

This is a positive contribution especially towards addressing the forever increasing unemployment rate in the Province.

In her closing remarks, MEC Koloi, mentioned that her Department is a direct contributor towards economic growth and sustainable development.

“We want to advance towards people sharing in the country’s wealth and thus creating work, social security and eradicating poverty,” MEC Koloi concluded.
