Officially joined the Department of Public Works and Infrastructure as the Deputy Director General (DDG) on 20 August 2018, after serving the Mangaung Metro as Chief Financial Officer for six years. He holds a Bachelor Degree in Accounting and Masters of Business Management (MBA) from the University of Free State. He also holds an Honours Degree in Financial Accounting from the University of South Africa, a Diploma in Public Finance Management and Administration from the University of Pretoria.
He is a trained accountant and has completed his articles training as an accountant with PriceWaterHouseCoopers. Ntate Mohlahlo is a career driven person with work experience that spans over a period of 14 years. Before joining the Mangaung Metro he served as a Chief Financial Officer, CFO at the Fezile Dabi District Municipality and as a middle manager at Maluti-aPhofung Municipality.
He served on a number of board audit committees as a chairperson and a member ranging from Municipalities, Government Departments and Public Entities. He also served as a board member and a director of the Institute of Municipal Finance Officers. Some of his achievements includes three unqualified audit reports for the Fezile Dabi Municipality; three MEET OUR DDG: MR ERNEST MOHLAHLO consecutive unqualified audit report for Mangaung Metro, an award for Project of the year: Asset Management Implementation (SMEC: 2016) Clean Administration Award – Most Improved Municipality (IMFO:2016).
He helped Mangaung Metro to its first A3 Investment Rating (Moodys: 2013) and he was a key role player in getting Mangaung ready for its first ever R 2 billion bond issuance programme in 2015. He is excited to join a team of professionals at Public Works & Infrastructure under the leadership of both the Head of Department Mme G. Brown and MEC D. Kotzee towards a shared vision of serving the Free State community.
