The Executive Council (EXCO) of the Free State Provincial Government undertook a Social Compact Imbizo at Matjhabeng Local Municipality in Welkom to create a meaningful platform for residents to raise concerns, highlight pressing challenges, and share issues affecting their livelihoods and overall well-being.
The Imbizo formed part of government’s ongoing commitment to strengthening participatory governance, promoting transparency, and ensuring that communities play an active role in shaping service delivery priorities.
The engagement further provided an opportunity for the Executive Council to update residents on progress achieved in improving service delivery across Matjhabeng Local Municipality, including infrastructure development, maintenance of basic services, and interventions aimed at enhancing local economic growth and social support programmes.
Through direct interaction with community members, government leaders were able to assess service delivery gaps, listen to lived experiences, and reinforce accountability by responding to questions and concerns raised by the public.
